We are seeking an Assistant Manager to join BEAM Society Limited (BSL) in heading a team of staff in processing and coordinating BEAM Plus assessment. Successful candidate will be responsible for technical check on the BEAM Plus submission; coordination on the assessment process; and provision of technical advice to the team and facilitate the committees and expert panels on the appraisal of built projects seeking BEAM Plus assessment/rating.

Responsibilities

  • Report to: Head of Technical Services

  • Manage and supervise project officers and assessors on the conduct of BEAM Plus project assessment works;

  • Oversee the assessment process to assure effective and efficient processing of all the submission for BEAM Plus assessment;

  • Provide technical advice to his / her staff and secretariat support to the committees and expert panels on the appraisal / vetting of BEAM Plus submissions and on any matters relating to the application and development of BEAM Plus Tools;

  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of project assessment;

  • Supervise the performance of consultants engaged on tasks / projects relating to BEAM Plus application, development and research;

  • Conduct technical assessments in accordance with in­house operation procedures and guidelines;

  • Provide technical support to Committees and Task Forces;

  • Assist in the development and revision of BEAM Plus and other technical manuals;

  • Supervise and provide training as well as coaching to subordinates;

  • Attend, prepare and or conduct internal and external meetings / training / workshop etc; and

  • Perform ad­hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree holder in architecture / building / engineering / construction / environmental / planning / surveying or related disciplines with minimum 10 years of relevant working experience applying for Assistant Manager;

  • Full corporate professional membership with either HKIA, HKIE, HKIQEP, HKIS, IEAust, CEng, CEnv etc; and recognized green building professional qualification, e.g. BEAM Pro / LEED AP is required;

  • Hands-on experience on green building design based on BEAM Plus requirements, and solid experience in preparing BEAM Plus submission for assessment by BSL;

  • Solid knowledge of building energy simulation / building services installation (e.g. MVAC, electrical, plumbing & drainage installations including design calculations, preparation of tender drawings and specifications, statutory submissions, site inspection and T&C etc.) / environmental assessment / acoustics and Indoor Environmental Quality. It is not expected that a candidate must be an all­rounder having the full range of knowledge and experience as listed above. But the candidate is expected to have knowledge and/or experience on multiple areas, and is ready to pick up the rest under the guidance of her/his supervisors after joining the BSL;

  • Minimum 2 years of experience at management position;

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English;

  • Strong work ethics and team orientation, and attentive to details;

  • Positive, well-organized, pleasant with good interpersonal and communication skills; and

  • Able to work under pressure with tight deadline.
