Invitation to HKIP & MUPI Technical Visit to Heritage Revitalisation Projects in Macau
Here comes a valuable opportunity for HKIP members to learn more about heritage conservation and revitalisation initiatives in Macau!
The Macao Urban Planning Institute (MUPI) cordially invites HKIP members for a Technical Visit to several recently completed Heritage Revitalisation Projects in Macau. It is our honour to have the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (ICM) to guide us through these projects. We will also have the opportunity to meet with the town planners in Macau for ideas exchange. Below please find the details of the visit:
Date: 23 July 2016 (Sat)
Time: 07:45 – 14:30
Venue: Heritage Revitalisation Projects by Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (ICM)
Patane Night Watch House (沙梨頭更館)
· A revitalised Night Watch House which aims to preserve a unique character of night-watchmen profession for crime and fire prevention in the past. The space is now revitalised for hosting exhibition about the history of Macau's former night-watchmen.
Na Tcha Exhibition Hall (大三巴哪吒展館)
· The Na Tcha Exhibition Hall serves to preserve the traditional Taoism character in Macau and the Taoism blessing ceremony. The Chinese traditional temple sits quietly beside a major Christian monument – the Ruins of the Church of St Paul. The mixture of different cultures as well as different architectural design will bring us an excellent urban planning lesson.
Patane Library (沙梨頭圖書館)
· The Patane Library is a revitalisation project which has transformed seven historical buildings into a new public library. It is a challenging revitalisation project because of the complexity of the historic building structure.
